My Approach as a Therapist

I work from an embodied, liberatory, and humanistic approach. I draw from different modalities and tailor my approach to each client’s particular set of needs. For me, it’s about partnering with each client and integrating what works best and feels the most supportive and beneficial.

Other modalities/approaches that inform my work:

  • Mindfulness

  • Somatics

  • Attachment theory

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) / parts work

  • Self-compassion

  • Psychodynamic theory

  • Strengths-based

  • Trauma-informed

  • Multicultural/Cultural humility

  • Anti-oppression/Empowerment

You’re welcome to ask me any questions about my approach during our initial consultation and/or at any point during our work together. Some folks are curious about what the different modalities and theories are, while others don’t find it necessary.

Maybe you’re looking for a specific type of therapist (based on specialty, personality, approach, identities, experiences). I’ve found that it’s sometimes as simple as a gut feeling that lets you know a therapist is a good fit. It’s also okay not to know and to try out different providers.

It can take time to find a therapist, let alone a therapist who feels like a good fit. If you find that my style and approach are not a match for what you are looking for at this time, I am happy to provide referrals.
